Our Luxury Lakeside Cottages feature an inviting fireplace overlooking Bay Lake, our lower level Bay Lake Villa has its own jacuzzi tub, and the Five Pines Lodge offers a quintessential Northwood experience for the whole family.
Winter Activities at Ruttger's
For those seeking some outdoor adventure, bundle up and head out to our new ice skating rink! Follow the trail of twinkling lights down to the rink next to the White Oak Grill and golf course to create truly special memories with the family.
We also offer snowshoeing for guests to explore beautiful Bay Lake and the grounds around Ruttger’s Bay Lake Resort. Or, new this year, try out hok skiing at Ruttger’s! Hok skiing is quickly gaining popularity. A cross between snowshoeing and skiing, hok skis are shorter in length and wider than skis, allowing you to more easily traverse deep snow and making for a fun and smooth glide down any gentle slopes.

Snowmobiling Trails
If you’re looking for more high-octane fun, Ruttger’s has always been a fantastic location for great snowmobiling trails. Great for beginners and experts alike, the Garrison Trail is always a favorite for snowmobiling, as it runs right by our White Oak Grill, where you can stop in to warm up with a drink and hot meal before you head back out on the trail.
Ruttger’s is home to some of the best snowmobiling trails in Minnesota, connecting to miles of groomed trails throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area!
Family Activities
As always, on those especially frigid days, our guests enjoy fun activities like bingo, arts and crafts, games, and trivia at White Oak Grill.
This winter season, guests enjoyed new activities like our Make & Take events. Our most recent Make & Take taught guests how to paint a festive Santa painting.
We also have plans for bonfires and live music, offering the whole family memorable evenings together.
Indoor Pool & Hot Tub
Watch the snow fall through the glass windows as you enjoy a relaxing soak in our hot tub. Our hot tub and heated indoor pool are open year-round, so those snow days can turn into spa days.
