Sweater weather is here. It’s time to swap out those sandals and shorts for cozy slippers and shackets. And if this is the first time you’ve heard of a “shacket” you’re not alone.
Miranda Caddy, retail director at Ruttger’s explains,
“What makes a shacket a shacket? It's a shirt used as a jacket. They can be light or heavy weight, depending on what you prefer, and have pockets just like a jacket. You can have a lot of fun styling your outfits with them.”
Miranda suggests giving the shacket a try, pairing it with different shirts and accessories.
She assures, “It’s a fun way to change the look of an outfit. It’ll surprise you how many ways you change it up. We even have a boiled wool shacket.” Perfect for transitioning from fall to winter.
You Don’t Need to Sacrifice Style
The shacket is just one of the latest popular fall fashion trends Miranda recommends you try for those chilly months.
“This fall we’re seeing comfort, warmth, and layering style,” says Miranda. “Warm colors are still a fall favorite.”
All great news for Minnesotans looking to stay warm and cozy. However, even the most seasoned Minnesotans will tell you they still have trouble dressing for the weather while also looking stylish. Once those temperatures start dropping, it seems all bets are off when it comes to choosing between fashion or warmth.
Luckily, Miranda is sharing her tips for layering and has stocked Ruttger’s retail stores with plenty of fantastic products this fall so you don’t have to sacrifice fashion for warmth.
“Right now, we have great fall graphics with sayings like “Fall I Love You”, “Bonfires. Flannels. S’mores. Sweaters. Campfires. Pumpkins” and “Coffee Weather” just to name a few.
I recommend pairing those with a shacket or one of our chunky knit open cardigans. Fall is a beautiful time of the year to layer, keeping you comfortable when it’s chilly in the morning and warm in the afternoon.”
Getting the Right Outerwear
On those extra chilly fall mornings and evenings, you can throw a jacket on top of your layers for extra warmth.
At Ruttger’s stores, you’ll find nice dress coats from Charlie B and a heavy winter jacket from Tribal. The Tribal jacket is not only stylish with a detachable faux fur hood but is a down quilted parka rated to -22 F. Exactly what you need for a Minnesota winter.
To stylize the look further, Miranda suggests pairing the jacket with a new matching winter boot arriving soon from Canada coupled with their customer-favorite puffer purse.
You’ll also find tons of beautiful cozy sweaters at Ruttger’s stores, both light and heavy options and in every style and price range, showcasing those warm colors like cream, caramel, burnt oranges, and soft blues.
Back again are Minnetonka slippers but with a new design. They are slide-style slippers with a hard bottom. One side of the slipper has the state of Minnesota, and the other slipper says, “MN”, making it an excellent gift for the holidays.
And to ensure your feet stay extra warm, Miranda loves their new “softest sock ever” though you can never go wrong with their great-priced Snoozie slippers and socks.
Miranda’s Favorite Fall Outfit
If you’re still not confident putting together your own stylish and warm fall ensemble, Miranda shares her favorite look for this season.
“My favorite fall outfit would be a solid shirt layered with a plaid shacket, slightly distressed jeans, cream boots, “softest socks ever,” cream earrings, and pom beanie,” says Miranda.
"I would also add a Joy Susan backpack or slouchy purse. Joy purses are so soft and have a beautiful color. We have a great variety and always have a re-order ready because our customers love them!”
With tons of new items for the fall season at Ruttger’s retail and Miranda as your expert guide, you won’t have any trouble putting together a great fall wardrobe that keeps you warm and looking fantastic.
