Food + Drink
Ruttger’s offers three distinctly different dining locations. Ruby’s offers a more formal dining option in our historic lakeside log dining room. Choose to order from our a la carte menu or our fabulous nightly buffet. Alternatively, the Bear Pine Bar offers food and handcrafted cocktails indoors or outside on our decks, all with spectacular views of Bay Lake. Zig’s Restaurant overlooking The Lakes golf course has a variety of fresh new menu creations and a full bar featuring signature cocktails, all complimented by breathtaking views of the 18th green and Bass Lake. Be sure to visit Auntie M’s too!
Named after Auntie Mae Ruttger Heglund, Auntie M’s is a great place to relax with a cup of our fresh-ground specialty roasted coffee. On the drink menu you will find a variety of beverages including fresh ground coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies and tea. Auntie M’s also has ice cream, candy, pastries and unique gift options. Ruttger’s guests can enjoy this out-of-the-way spot for playing games, relaxing with the morning news, or shopping for just the right gift!
Ruby’s Dining Room
Historic Northwoods elegance is what you’ll find when you step into Ruby’s. If these logs could talk they would tell rich stories of families, friends and memories being made on long summer days. Executive Chef Terry Dox carries on Josie Ruttger’s delicious food tradition dating back to 1898 with tried and true favorites plus new spins on old classics. Enjoy the fabulous buffet or order from the nightly menu. Open to the public Memorial Day to Labor Day. During the summer months, menu service and the dinner buffet are available. Early spring and fall may vary, depending on the number of guests staying at the resort. Please ask when making dinner reservations if the buffet is being served.

History of Zig’s
Zig’s is named after Haas “Zig” Ziegler who developed the nine-hole golf course at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge nearly 100 years ago. Zig convinced Alec Ruttger that a recreational golf course would be a fine attraction to the guests when the fishing on Bay Lake was slow . . . smart guy. Now, in addition to Alec’s Nine, Ruttger’s also offers an 18-hole championship course designed by the famous architect, Joel Goldstrand. You can bask in the beautiful scenery that Northern Minnesota has to offer sitting right on Zig’s patio. Relax and enjoy some casual dining with a great menu including, juicy burgers, tasty sandwiches, fresh salads, mouth-watering steaks, fun cocktails and more! Reservations for groups of 6 or more are recommended. Call 218.678.4678 for seasonal hours and food and beverage specials.
