Have you ever wondered who that guy is walking around the dining room with the interesting accent? Well…meet James Taylor, our Food & Beverage Director. James is from Southampton, England, which is on the South Coast of England about 70 miles SW of London. He has been with us for 3 years and comes to us with 20 years experience in the Hospitality Industry. He is responsible for all of the Restaurants and Bars at the Resort. He also makes sure that all meetings, banquets and special events are executed properly. We sat down with James and asked him some fun questions. Don’t miss questions 5 & 6! Great suggestions from James on food & wine.
Once a month, Jonathan will be visiting the Ruttger’s Blog and educating us on different weather wonders. This month, after Chris Ruttger shot this amazing picture of the Sun Dogs, we thought it was the perfect question for Jonathan…how do Sun Dogs occur?
Take it away, Jonathan!
First of all when you see Sun Dogs, you know it is cold (the air temperature has to be less than 10 degrees).
Here is how and why Sun Dogs occur:
Good day, everyone!
When planning an incentive trip or retreat for your organization, don’t forget to look in your own backyard for some exciting options. Many times, the perfect solution is located within a short drive and can be very cost effective. By choosing a local venue, you are supporting and stimulating the local economy which is healthy for all business owners alike. Another benefit of choosing local is that it will allow your team the opportunity to refocus while minimizing time away from the office and their families.
Many of you are familiar with the fact that Ruttger’s has a strong German heritage. You see it in several different ways around the resort, including the Rüttger wine from German. There is one sign of the Ruttger’s German heritage that stands out more than the others, Oktoberfest. This year, October 19 -21 marks the 27th Annual Oktoberfest, and like past events, it is a festival that celebrates the German history at Ruttger’s.
Oktoberfest began in 1810 in Germany when Crown Prince Ludwig, later King Ludwig I, married Princess Therese of Saxe-Hidburghausen. The citizens of Munich celebrated the union on the fields in front of the city gates. At the end of the celebration, horse races were held in front of the Royal Family. The horse races were repeated every year (although they are no longer a part of the celebration) and Oktoberfest was born.

There is no better way to enjoy the fall oranges, yellows, and reds than to play a round of golf. It is a great time of year to enjoy the course with a group of friends or family. The air has cooled, the crowds have thinned, and the trees are full of beautiful fall colors. It seems even better knowing that it may be the last few times you have the chance to get out on a course before the inevitable snow begins falling on the ground.
